Things worth knowing about folding phones
- The inner display has a protective layer that is part of the screen and is not a removable screen protector
- Dust and grit in the hinge causes a surprising amount of the damage we see
- A crease line is normal, a dead line along the crease is not
- Some folding repairs are limited by part supply rather than skill, and we will tell you when that is the case
Before you bring a folding phone in
- Back up the phone if it still works
- Know your Google or Samsung account password
- Do not peel the inner screen layer, even if it is lifting
- Stop folding it if there is grit in the hinge, since that makes the damage worse
- Bring it in sooner rather than later, because inner display faults tend to spread
