Step one

This is the part that matters. A reset removes what is on the drive. Before anything begins we go through what is on the machine and what needs to survive.

You confirm what is being kept
Nothing is wiped until you have told us what matters and we have a plan for it. If you are not sure what is on there, we will help you look.

The system is reinstalled, updated and configured so you are handed back a machine that is ready to use rather than a blank prompt.

- A reset erases the contents of the drive, and that is the point of it
- Back up anything irreplaceable yourself before you bring the machine in, if it still starts
- Photos, documents and desktop files are what people most often forget
- Saved browser passwords and licence keys are the second most forgotten
- If the machine will not start and your only copy of something is on it, tell us before we do anything

- Back up your files to an external drive or cloud storage
- Write down which programs you actually use, so setup puts them back
- Know the account passwords for Windows, Microsoft, Apple or Google as applicable
