A slow computer is a symptom, not a diagnosis. It is the single most common thing people bring us and it has at least half a dozen different causes, which is exactly why guessing at it wastes money.
What we can tell you honestly, before you spend anything, is that a slow machine is often fixable, and we will give you the cost so you can weigh it against a replacement.

We check drive health, memory, temperatures, disk space and what is actually running. Those numbers point at one cause rather than several possibilities.

Sometimes it is a free tidy up. Sometimes it is an SSD. Sometimes it is a drive on the way out and the urgent job is getting your data off it.

If the machine is old enough that the sensible answer is a replacement, we will say so.
The two upgrades that fix most slow computers
- Replacing a mechanical hard drive with an SSD, which is the biggest single improvement available on an older machine
- Adding memory, which helps most if you keep many tabs or programs open
- Both together turn a great many five to eight year old machines back into perfectly usable computers
- Neither is worth doing if the machine has a different underlying fault, which is what diagnosis establishes
