Desktop and PC repair

Desktop and PC repair, towers and all in ones

Desktops fail differently from laptops. There is more room to fix, upgrade or replace individual parts, but also more that can go wrong between the power supply, the motherboard, storage and the monitor it is plugged into.

We work on tower PCs, all in one desktops, and custom built machines, Windows and other systems.

Desktop repairs we carry out

What is the desktop doing?

Pick the closest match. If none of them fit, describing it works just as well.

Will Not Turn On

No lights, no fans, nothing happens at the power button

No Display

The tower powers on but the monitor shows nothing

Running Slow

Takes forever to start, freezes, everything lags

Something Else

Noise, overheating, random restarts, or you are not sure

How a desktop repair works here

Step one

We isolate the component

A desktop that will not turn on could be the power supply, the motherboard, a loose connection, or something else entirely. We test the machine rather than replace parts by guesswork.

Step two

We tell you what it costs, and whether it is worth it

Desktop parts are often more affordable to replace individually than laptop parts. We give you the honest comparison against a new or refurbished machine.

Step three

We repair, upgrade and test

Fixed or upgraded here, then run under real conditions before it goes back to you, not just powered on and handed over.

Upgrades worth considering on an older desktop

Before you bring a desktop in

Desktops are bulkier than a laptop, so a little preparation helps.

Questions about this repair

Most often the power supply, the wall outlet or power strip, or a loose internal connection. Occasionally the motherboard. We test to find out which before quoting anything.

Could be either. We test the video output directly and can usually tell quickly whether the fault is in the machine or the display.

We work on custom built machines regularly, both repairs and upgrades. Bring it in and tell us what you are looking to do.

Often, yes, more so than with laptops, because parts are generally more affordable and more standard. We will give you the honest comparison against buying new.

Usually not. Bring the tower and the power cable, and we will let you know if we need anything else for your specific issue.
